Picture of Mike Russell

Hi there, I'm Mike

Thank you for visiting my online portfolio! I am a UX Researcher and have been growing in this field over the last 11 years. I currently focus on both generative and evaluative studies. I enjoy solving problems, building partnerships, and creating.

My technical skills include proficiency in usability and testing methodologies, user research, ideation, information architecture studies, as well as design and prototyping. I am adept at using tools such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Axure, Figma, and several others.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong ability to lead and execute impactful UX research projects. At GEICO, I successfully established design and tone standards for our website and mobile app, including the development of the patented “shopping bar.” I directed comprehensive testing for bundled policies employing methodologies such as user interviews, ideation sessions, and usability testing, which led to measurable improvements in completion rates and key performance indicators.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, woodworking, and doing anything outdoors. My wife and I live in Northern, VA with our 1 year old and 2 Boston Terriers.
